AINous Research says the final Hermes Index score for Step 5 Preview has been updated to 32.83. The corrected score places it slightly behind GPT-6 Luna at 33.89 and GLM 5.3 Flash at 34.95.

AIAnthropic releases Claude Code v2.1.296, which adds a code key to the Claude apps gateway's managed.policies[] and an allow_large option to the Read tool for reading large text files in one call. The release also adds autoCompactWindow for subagents and CLAUDE_CODE_WORKFLOW_SUBAGENT_MODEL, and fixes many bugs in hooks, MCP servers, permission checks and self-hosted runners.

AIGitHub adds two Copilot code review admin controls. Organization owners can bill code reviews from members with a Copilot license to the owning organization instead of member quotas, which requires AI Credits paid usage and allows an optional budget. Owners and repository admins can also restrict review requests to users whose Copilot license comes from their organization or enterprise.

AIEric Zakariasson, a threat hunter and threat intelligence lead, says he hunts agentic security threats using X data. A quoted post from @pjvann says a Grok bot can use X intelligence, a free OpenCTI server, and a Wazuh server to track such threats in real time, connected through an X MCP.

AIX launches an X API Engineer in Grok Bot that suggests project ideas, helps build and test them, and deploys them for others to use. The post, from the Cursor account's owner, invites developers to build on the X API with this tool.

AIOpenAI's Codex now suggests the user's next message based on the conversation and how the user talks to it, available in beta for Pro users. Lewis Tunstall of Hugging Face jokes that meat proxies will love the feature.

AIGoodfire announces a partnership with Baseten to bring real-time safety monitoring to open models. The companies are launching Project Beacon, which combines inference with in-line monitoring so safety signals are caught proactively.

AIGoodfire says its activation monitors use signals from inside a model to detect undesired behaviors, catching more cases, running faster and costing less than text-based monitors. Baseten customers can use them to monitor for prompt injection, actions outside policy, sensitive data exposure and cyber misuse.

AIGoodfire says teams can configure how their applications respond when a concern is flagged, including logging, additional review, refusal, and re-routing. The company directs model servers and trainers to a partnership post with Baseten for building monitors into their stack.

AIPaige Bailey praises the WorkOS team, calling it unparalleled. Context from Tom Grinich says WorkOS gave init() attendees tiny programmable computers, and attendees built projects ranging from DOOM to animated avatars and Tamagotchis.

AIMicrosoft says the full Word, Excel, and PowerPoint apps are now rolling out to the Copilot app in Frontier. Users can create, edit, and collaborate on documents in one connected workspace, with branded templates and version history. The workspace also offers a library of frontier models, with an Auto router that picks a model for each task.

AIOpenAI says ChatGPT now has faster browsing and smoother scrolling, fewer unnecessary notifications, and cleaner code blocks and attachments. The update also makes Outlook setup easier, clarifies plans, simplifies retries, and improves Enterprise access on web and voice.

AIPaige Bailey, who works on Google's Gemini, says experienced engineers and managers must model curiosity and push teams to build with AI, rather than rely only on decades of system design and failure-handling expertise. She says leaders who do not encourage experimentation and share what they learn are doing their teams a massive disservice. AIMcKinsey partner James Kaplan says knowledge graphs can connect enterprise data with the business relationships AI applications need for decisions. He says AI can convert unstructured information into structured data and business rules stored in a graph. McKinsey uses this approach in EcliptOS, its AI operating system with a semantic data layer, according to the interview.

AIAnthropic is adding dynamic workflows to Claude Managed Agents, letting a lead agent plan tasks, distribute them to up to 1,000 parallel sub-agents, and merge their results. In Anthropic's test, a 116,000-line codebase with 70 hidden bugs saw a single agent catch 14 to 27 per run, while the dynamic workflow consistently caught 66. To activate it, users select the "multiagent_20261001" agent type, and Anthropic recommends starting small because the workflows can use a lot of tokens.

AIOpenAI's developer account announces composer predictions in Codex, which suggest a user's next message based on the conversation and how the user writes. During the beta, the feature is included at no additional cost for eligible Pro users.

AICloudflare releases Clef-omni, an open-weight decision model that accepts audio, video, image, and text input in a single API call. Clef-flash's price falls from $0.09 to $0.038 per M input tokens, while its hosted context window drops from 64k to 24k. Cloudflare also reports median latency reductions of 1.7 to 2.0 times for the Clef model on Workers AI.

AIAsana says it made its browser agent 76x cheaper and 5x faster in tests by using GPT-6 Astra in Codex. The company says the change lets it offer customers more capable models.

AICline is offering Solar Mini 4 free, a new 35B mixture-of-experts model from Korean lab Upstage with 3B active parameters. It has a 524K context window and runs at 208 tokens per second. Cline says it scores 24 on the AAII, the highest of any model at 3B active and within one point of Nemotron 3 Ultra, which uses 55B active.

AIA user asks whether the Grok bot's new email address will have a dedicated interface or can only be used through the bot. The bot can use the email to sign up for services, contact businesses, and schedule meetings, according to the background post.
