Micbot Settles Robot-Dog Delivery Dispute With Zhejiang Buyer After Delays and Development-Rights Clash

Micbot says a procurement dispute with a Zhejiang customer over four wheeled-quadruped robots has been settled through negotiation, after reports of late P2 deliveries, a balance fault in a Curiosity S01 and a disagreement over secondary-development rights. The buyer, which ordered two P2 units for 580,000 yuan and later two S01 units at 160,000 yuan each, had refused research-only terms for software access. Micbot's October 6 statement said it supports customer secondary development but requires clear authorization and protection of core technology.

IROS 2026 papers show AI reintegrating with classical robotics rather than replacing it

Of 1,933 IROS 2026 papers, Robot Learning/Embodied AI appears in about 809, while Navigation/Planning covers 564 and Perception/Vision 556. The article argues large models are being embedded into traditional planning, geometry, and control rather than replacing them. Vision-language-action models are shifting toward efficiency, 3D understanding, memory, and system integration.

Simplexity Robotics uses robots to tend CNC lathes at 0.5 mm tolerance

At IROS 2026, Simplexity Robotics presented a robot that autonomously tends two CNC machines, grasping workpieces, loading them into chucks, and placing finished parts, with 0.5 mm clearance. The system was trained on only 600 real robot trajectories, using the SimpleWAM world action model, DRAM recurrent memory, and DPE candidate action scoring. The talk was reported as an edited transcript from the conference presentation.

California regulators order robot-versus-human fight startup Rek to stop matches

The California State Athletic Commission sent a cease-and-desist letter to startup Rek over a September 18 match pitting a human against a humanoid robot piloted remotely. The letter, posted by Rek CEO Cix Liv, calls the fight unsanctioned and demands that Rek stop promoting human-involved contests in California without approval. Rek's next planned match on Friday will feature two weaponized robots fighting each other.

The #1 video-to-video model in the Physics-IQ Verified benchmark is finally live! (Their research preview is) Odyssey 3 Pro is a world model, and nobody beats it for physical accuracy. You can use this model to control a robot, drive a car, play a video game, or pilot a drone. • It takes visual observations from the world • Uses these observations to learn how things work • Then maps that knowledge to the system's physical controls

Jabil Says Humanoid Robots Are Moving Toward Tens-of-Thousands Production Volumes

Jabil senior director Thomas Brown says humanoid robots are entering a phase of tens of thousands of units, where manufacturability, cost structure, and quality become central. He says Jabil works with developers to cut costs for scale, while compute and memory prices remain a pain point, and that humanoids make sense in factories and warehouses while mobile arms still suit high-speed tasks.

AWS launches open-source Physical AI Toolchain combining its services with NVIDIA's stack

Amazon Web Services launched an open-source Physical AI Toolchain that combines AWS services with NVIDIA's Physical AI software to cover data generation, model training, simulation, edge deployment, and continuous improvement for robots. AWS uses Amazon SageMaker for training and AWS IoT Greengrass for distributing models to edge devices, while NVIDIA contributes Isaac Sim, Isaac Lab, Isaac GR00T, and Cosmos. The toolchain is hardware-neutral and does not directly replace RoboMaker, which was shut down in 2025.

Nvidia's Halos safety platform extends from robotaxis to humanoid and warehouse robots

Nvidia's Halos software platform, originally built for autonomous vehicles, has been adapted for robotics, according to Ars Technica. The system monitors hardware and software for failures, isolates safety-critical workloads, and includes simulation tools and an inspection lab for robotics developers. Because safety requirements vary widely between a robotic vacuum and a warehouse forklift, Nvidia made the platform programmable so developers can define custom safety functions.

AI advances won't quickly make robots useful in everyday life, researchers say

Researchers at robotics labs say that AI advances behind chatbots like ChatGPT and Claude will not quickly produce robots that are useful in everyday life. Many skeptics argue that using language- and image-based intelligence to master the physical world is far harder than it sounds, despite bold predictions from Elon Musk about Tesla's Optimus. Progress is real but incremental, as shown by Google DeepMind's Gemini Robotics controlling ALOHA 2 arms to pack a lunchbox.

Galbot and Tsinghua's LATENT Wins IROS Award for Humanoid Tennis Forehand

A Galbot, Tsinghua University and collaborators paper won IROS 2026's Best Entertainment and Amusement Paper Award for LATENT, a humanoid tennis-return method trained on imperfect amateur motion-capture clips. In simulation, the full forehand policy succeeded on 96.52 percent of returns, versus 71.85 percent for PULSE. On a real Unitree G1, the paper reports 90.90 percent forehand success across 20 consecutive rallies, with motion capture still used rather than the robot's own cameras.
