Public Sentiment Sours on AI as Usage Keeps Surging

Surveys show more adults expect AI to harm them personally and society than expect benefits, and 71% of US adults oppose a local AI data center. Yet ChatGPT reached a billion monthly users in May, and about half of US adults now use a chatbot, more than double the 2023 share.
