Jarhead, an open-source voice assistant that operates your Mac for you

AISummary

Kevin Liu releases Jarhead, an open-source voice assistant that uses a Mac the way a person would, opening apps, clicking through Spotify, browsing, typing, running git, and marking up the screen. It runs on GPT-Live-1, which listens and talks at the same time so users can interrupt it mid-task, and its reasoning can use a ChatGPT plan with Codex, Claude Code, or an API key.

I built my own Jarvis, and he straight up uses my Mac for me.

IT'S LIVE: http://jarhead.kevinliu.studio

Jarhead is an open-source voice assistant that uses your Mac like an actual human would, so he opens apps, clicks through Spotify, browses, types, runs git, and circles stuff on your screen while you just talk to him. When GPT-Live-1 came out, I knew it was perfect for this, because it listens and talks at the same time, so you can keep chatting while he works or cut him off mid-sentence. His brain just uses whatever you already use, like Codex on your ChatGPT plan, Claude Code, or an API key (he's also a multiplexer).

He lives in the notch as a little dithered blob with ^ ^ eyes, wakes up when you say his name, flies out to whatever he's working on, does a bunch of things at once with a little blob for each one, and even rewrites his own code!
